David Triplett

LEAVENWORTH - David E. Triplett, 49, of Leavenworth, former longtime resident of Winfield, died May 19, 2001, at the Veterans Administration Center in Leavenworth.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Highland Cemetery.

Memorials have been established with the Salvation Army and the American Red Cross. Contributions may be made through Miles Funeral Service.

Triplett was born Nov. 3, 1951, at Barksdale Air Force Base in Bossier City, La., to Betty Joanna (Hamon) and Donald Dean Triplett. He was raised in Winfield, Arkansas City, Ponca City, Manitou Springs, Colo., and Mountain View, Calif., and graduated from Winfield High School. He later attended Cowley County Community College, Southwestern College and Kaw Valley Vocational-Technical School.

A veteran of the Vietnam War, Triplett served with the U.S. Navy and earned the rank of E-3.

He was employed in farming and worked for many Winfield area businesses before moving to the Veterans Administration Center due to declining health.

Affiliated with the Tisdale United Methodist Church, he was a member of the U.S. Chess Federation and had been a member of the Walnut Valley Association.

Survivors include his mother, Joan Andes, and a sister, Belinda J. Turner, both of Winfield.
