Dianna Cline (Thompson)

Dianna Thompson passed away on June 12, 2023, after a battle with ALS. She was born on August 5, 1954, to Elmer & Elzora Cline in Winfield, KS. After graduating high school in 1972, she attended Cowley College where she met her husband, Joe. The two married on July 12, 1975, in Winfield, KS. Dianna continued her education at Wichita State University and graduated in 1976 with a degree in Education.

She spent 33 years working for USD 470; starting as a librarian aide and transitioned to teaching 4th grade at IXL Elementary. With a passion for reading, she pursued a Master’s Degree in Library Science at Wichita State University and transitioned to a library media specialist at IXL and Francis Willard Elementary schools until retiring in 2016. Dianna deeply cared for her students and strived to make an impact on improving their education.

Music was another passion for Dianna as she originally majored in Music Performance. She continued to enjoy her love of music by playing the flute for more than 30 years in the Ark City Community Band and Winfield Regional Symphony for 10 years as well as other Chamber music performances in Winfield, KS. Dianna was also a member of the AC Tumbleweeds for 20 years and assisted with the annual car show to ensure each year was successful and enjoyed by all.

Beyond her passions Dianna was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. Her greatest joys were her two daughters and five grandchildren. She was selfless and the happiest knowing everyone around her was cared for.

Dianna is survived by her husband, Joe; daughters Larabeth Thompson-Gonzales and husband Matthew of Edmond, OK and Kristine Wise and husband Dain, of Edmond, OK; grandchildren Natalie, Harrison, Greyson, Harlow, and Camden; sisters Threcia (Russell) McFadden, Denecia Angleton, and Allecia (Tommy) Ramirez; brother WR (Laura) Cline, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents.

A celebration for her life will be held at Crawford Funeral Service in Edmond, OK on July 6th, 2023, from 1 to 3 pm. Those wishing to honor Dianna are asked to make a donation to Teach for America in lieu of flowers. A link for donating may be found below.
