Debra “Kay” Davis, 55, of Winfield, died Dec. 6, 2009.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Swisher-Taylor & Morris Chapel. Inurnment will be private.

Visitation is from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorials are to the American Diabetes Association.


Kay was born Oct. 8, 1954, in Winfield, to Nolan Inman and Ruby (Johnson) Cox. She was raised in Winfield and graduated from Winfield High School in 1972. She attended Cowley County Community College.

She married Robert Thomas Davis II in 1981. The couple lived in Detroit, Mich., for 15 years. In 1996, she moved back to Winfield where she had worked for CCL and Southwinds group homes.

Kay was a member of Bethel AME Church in Winfield.

Survivors include her mother, Ruby Cox, Winfield; sons, Chris Davis, Winfield, and Robert Thomas Davis III, Gainesville, Fla.; brothers, Carl Dean Dorsey, Kansas Veterans Home, Winfield, Earl Eugene Dorsey, Dallas, Texas, and Melford Dorsey, Wichita; sisters, Bobbye Burns and Venita Tapia, both of Winfield, and Sondra Dorsey, Topeka; and a granddaughter.
